How Farleigh is supporting Wellbeing

We are continuing to grow our Wellbeing programme to support patients, carers and bereaved people. We aim to meet their physical, emotional, social, spiritual, financial and intellectual needs through a range of activities and collaborations.

Our Relax and Breathe day, led by our physiotherapists, helps patients and carers manage breathlessness and improve quality of life.

A new webpage is in development to share advice, resources and links to further support. Twice a month, our Social Drop-In group meets at the hospice, offering peer support and friendly conversation. This group is facilitated by one of our dedicated Wellbeing volunteers.

Since July, we’ve hosted monthly Citizen’s Advice Bureau clinics, providing guidance on finances, benefits, housing and more. This pilot project, supported by our Family Support Team, will be reviewed in the new year.

In November, our physiotherapists are launching a weekly Seated Exercise session, using gentle Pilates, yoga and tai chi-based movements.

Our Maldon Walk and Talk group continues fortnightly in Promenade Park and a new Chelmsford group will begin in Admirals Park in November.

Following feedback, we trialled a shortened Carers Course in October and will offer an online version in November. This course offers carers support and
advice on how to look after themselves emotionally and practically whilst they care for their loved one.

Looking ahead, our Occupational Therapy team is developing Fatigue and Anxiety Management sessions, and we’re exploring new partnerships with Active Essex and Stories for Life to expand our services.

Together, we’re building a stronger, more supportive hospice community.
