From managing fatigue and breathlessness to finding a more comfortable position or adapting everyday tasks, occupational therapy can make a practical difference to daily life.
At Farleigh Hospice, our occupational therapy team works with people to understand what matters most to them and find ways to help them achieve their personal goals. This might involve assessing equipment needs, offering advice on managing symptoms or finding ways to stay active and involved in everyday activities.

The focus is not simply on what someone finds difficult, but on what can help them continue doing the things that are important to them. Support is tailored to each person and can be provided at home, on our Inpatient Unit or as an outpatient at the hospice.
Working closely with Farleigh’s wider clinical team, our occupational therapists help people manage the effects of their illness, maintain independence for as long as possible and make the most of their time.
This World Occupational Therapy Day on 27 October, we’re recognising the difference this support can make. Because care is not only about managing symptoms. It is also about helping people live as comfortably and independently as possible, doing the things that matter to them.
