Farleigh Hospice is a high performing organisation providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people with life-limiting illness in the Mid Essex region. We are looking for a highly motivated Counsellor to join our Wellbeing Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide compassionate, evidence-informed counselling to adult patients, family members and carers, both before and after bereavement. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, you will therapeutically support individuals to navigate anticipatory grief, bereavement, adjustment to illness, and the emotional impact of loss.

You will hold a varied caseload and work with a range of presentations, including complex grief and family-related challenges. The role requires a practitioner who can balance individual therapeutic work with an awareness of the wider family system, supporting adults to understand and respond to the impact of illness, dying, and bereavement on relationships and family life.

You will contribute to a psychologically informed service through assessment, formulation, counselling interventions, outcome monitoring, service development and collaborative working across the hospice and wider health and care community.

You will be an experienced, compassionate and professionally registered counsellor who is committed to delivering high-quality therapeutic support to patients, families and bereaved people across the palliative care journey.

You will have:

• A recognised Diploma or Degree in Counselling (Level 4 or above)

• Registration or accreditation with BACP, UKCP or NCPS

• Experience of providing counselling to adults

• Knowledge and understanding of bereavement and anticipatory grief

• Experience of working with complex emotional presentations

• Understanding of family systems and the impact of loss on relationships

• Excellent communication, assessment and risk management skills

• A commitment to collaborative working, reflective practice and service development

We offer a great working environment, a competitive pay and benefit package, flexible working and a strong team to support you.

If you require further information, please view the job description here or email the recruiting manager Emma Townsend at [email protected].

(Please note – If we receive a high number of applications, we will close the vacancy before the closing date)
