Owen's volunteering story

Owen volunteers at his local Farleigh store on Saturdays. We spoke to him to find out why he chose to volunteer for Farleigh.

"I was looking to get some work experience that I could add to my university application form. I'm planning to study sports performance analysis and volunteering is something that universities look at as part of the application.

I have previously received support through the Yo-Yo Children's Bereavement Service, so Farleigh was an easy choice.

It's fun to volunteer in my local store. I help out once a week so I can fit it in around school.

I get to meet an interesting range of people - you hear about their lives and learn from them. I'm gaining people and communication skills.

As one of the younger volunteers, I can help with sorting and pricing stock such as videos games, where I have experience."
