Pre-bereavement support referral criteria:

  • The Yo-Yo Project will assess children/young people for pre-bereavement support if a significant person in their lives has a palliative diagnosis and is in the last year of life.
  • Referrals can be made by professionals, family members/carers, and with explicit parental and child consent.
  • Some self-referrals will be accepted without parental consent, and this shall be assessed by age, development and understanding (Gillick competence).
  • Children and young people must reside in the mid Essex area (Chelmsford, Braintree and Maldon districts) and be registered with a GP in the area covered by Farleigh Hospice.
