Community Bereavement Support Groups

Our Open Support Group and Bereavement Help Points (BHPs) are informal drop-in groups for anyone who is facing bereavement to connect with other people who have experienced a loss. Experience tells us that this can reduce feelings of loneliness, help you feel understood and present opportunities for learning and sharing ways of coping.

The meetings are facilitated by trained volunteers who will offer a safe space, support you, share potentially helpful resources and offer signposting. Some people find the meetings a helpful space to talk about their loss(es) and the challenges faced, while others may prefer to listen to the experience of those around them (this can be just as helpful).

There is no need to register your attendance before your first group session.

Please note, our Witham venue will be changing from mid May. We have secured a new venue at the 'Valero Lounge' 57 Newland Street, Witham, CM8 2BE. The first meeting in the new venue will be held Friday 6th June 2025 10am - 11.30am.

Our Hatfield Peverel group does not meet on bank holidays. We next meet on April 28th and May 19th.

Bereavement Open Group
Date: The third Wednesday every month
Time: 7pm-8:30pm
Location: Farleigh Hospice, North Court Road, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 7FH
The group: We offer mutual support for all adults over 18 years of age who have had a significant bereavement. The openness of the group enables members to share experiences, learn from others and access support. No member is expected to contribute, only when they feel able to.
