Who we help
We provide care for any illness that is considered life-limiting (including cancer, neurological diseases, and chronic heart, lung, and renal diseases), both in our Inpatient Unit and in our patient’s home environments.
We also provide support for families and carers, and for people who have been bereaved. Our bereavement support is available to anyone in mid Essex, even if their bereavement is not connected to our hospice.
You can refer yourself, a family member, or a friend to our services (with their consent), or you can be referred through your GP. For more information on referrals to Farleigh Hospice, please click here.
Please note that specialist care and advice is provided according to a person’s individual needs, and you may be discharged and re-referred as your situation changes.
How we help
We help patients to live as actively as possible from the point of diagnosis to the end of their life, by providing physical and emotional care, free of charge.
We provide a range of services tailored to meet an individual’s needs including support, information, and guidance on symptom and pain control. Approximately 80% of our care takes place within the community and in patients’ home environments, with our Inpatient Unit providing 24/7 respite stays and end of life care when requested.

With approximately 44% of our yearly running costs being funded by the local NHS, we rely on the support and goodwill of the local mid Essex community to contribute to the over £21,271 it costs to provide our services each day.
