Hospice Care Week is an annual event organised by Hospice UK to raise awareness of the care that hospices provide.
This year, it was held on 9 to 15 October with a focus on staff and volunteers under the theme ‘We are hospice care.’
We were delighted to welcome our local MP for Chelmsford, Vicky Ford, on a visit to Farleigh Hospice, which was organised with Hospice UK. She met our Chief Executive, Sarah Green, and went on a tour of our hospice building in Broomfield, Chelmsford, speaking to patients, staff and volunteers.
Vicky told Hospice UK, “I spent a very moving few hours at Farleigh Hospice, talking with some of the people they are caring for, their families, staff, volunteers and fundraisers. I saw gardens beautifully maintained and cared for by volunteers and I chatted with some of the very passionate fundraising team who explained the incredible range of activities and events they put on to raise money for the service, including skydives and fun runs.
We are so lucky to have Farleigh. People described it as a home from home and could not have been more full of praise for the staff and volunteers.”
A career with Farleigh Hospice
Throughout Hospice Care Week, we shared videos of members of our care teams talking about their roles and what they value most about working for this charity. You can watch them here.
