Welcome to the 2024 Summer issue of The Lantern

In January, Farleigh Hospice was inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). I am delighted that we received an overall rating of ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ care which reflects the hard work, dedication and compassion that is shown every day by the fantastic staff and volunteers at this charity. You can read more about it here.

You can find out more about the hospice care and bereavement support that Farleigh provided across mid Essex in the last financial year here.

You can also read about a typical day for one of our bereavement counsellors and find out how we have helped Becky and James to create special memories for their family.

None of this would be possible without your kind support for our fundraising activities. In September you can get your Will written for a donation to Farleigh. We hope you can join us at our Garden Fete on Saturday 7 September and at Cycle for Life, our popular bicycle ride, when it returns the following day.

Farleigh is buzzing with excitement about the Buzz in the City sculpture art trail in Chelmsford next summer. You can be part of this fantastic new event now by sponsoring one of the amazing bee sculptures or joining our learning and education sponsorship programme.

We are also looking ahead to Christmas. Our catalogue is out now for you to buy your cards, wrapping paper and gifts as well as our 2025 calendar of beautiful photos of Essex. If you work in a school, please sign up for our Reindeer Run for some festive fun for the children!

Thank you for your continued support - it is because you care that Farleigh can.
