Fundraisers have a splashing time for Farleigh!
On Sunday 9 July, over 450 of our supporters splashed and dashed their way around our 5-kilometre wet and wild obstacle course at Maldon’s Promenade Park to raise money for Farleigh.
Splash Out! was popular with adults and children of all ages, with many dressed in vibrant tutus, garlands and Farleigh t-shirts, who raced around the park, wobbling and wading their way through water-based obstacles including a challenging pool with floating stepping stones.
Everyone who crossed the finish line received a medal and a refillable water bottle donated by the event sponsors, Chandler Materials.
Junaid Fazal took part with Harry, Sam and Kayleigh Ward, pictured below. They said, “Splash Out! was great fun and we really enjoyed it. The stepping stones and ball pit were our highlights! We would 100% do it again. Our nan passed away at Farleigh - the care was fabulous and they treated her so well.”
Debbie de Boltz, Farleigh Hospice’s Fundraising Manager, had been at the start line, cheering on the participants. She said, “It was our first ever Splash Out! so thank you to everyone who took part and made it such a brilliant, enjoyable event.
We are grateful to our sponsors, Chandler Materials, and everyone who collected sponsorship and hope to have raised about £15,000.
We are a charity and we rely on the money raised from events like this so we can be there to help everyone we care for to live as actively as possible from their diagnosis to the end of their life.
Our next big event is our popular Cycle for Life bike ride which returns for the 25th time on Sunday 17th September. Please pump up your tyres and join us.”
