Ramadan Mubarak to all who are celebrating this month
The holy month of Ramadan began on Sunday 10 March and is expected to conclude on Tuesday 9 April. During this time, many of us will have Muslim friends, colleagues - and for us here at Farleigh - supporters, patients and families, who are observing this period of deep spiritual reflection and fasting.
We are delighted that good friend of Farleigh, Dr Imranali Panjwani, has kindly shared a Ramadan message to explain what the month of Ramadan is all about and why Muslims fast.
Dr Panjwani explains, “fasting is something that has been practised by previous groups, civilisations and religions so it is something part and parcel of human existence and the purpose of fasting is so that those who intend to fast can become God conscious, that is, aware of the presence of God in their lives.
“This month is a month which Muslims, and indeed any person, is there to build relationships with our neighbours, to give gifts to them, to give charity to the poor, to rectify any relationship where we have treated anyone unjustly, to make peace with others.
“So, Ramadan is not just a month for Muslims - it is a month for humanity - and that is why it is so celebrated within the Islamic Calendar and can have such a beautiful effect on society as a whole.
“I would like to end by wishing you all Ramadan Mubarak and blessings to all of you.”
We would like to say a big thank you to Dr Panjwani for sharing this wonderful insight into the holy month of Ramadan and to wish Ramadan Mubarak to all our supporters, patients, families/carers and colleagues celebrating this month.
