Maldon Scouts are splashing out for Farleigh

Farleigh Hospice is bringing an exciting new, family-friendly event to Maldon’s Promenade Park on Sunday 9th July.

‘Splash Out!’ is a wet and wild, 5-kilometre outdoor obstacle course. It is open to adults and children aged 4 and over, so promises to be a fun summer event that family and friends can enjoy together!

Sign up now and you can look forward to slipping and sliding and wobbling and wading around two laps, taking on a total of ten water-based obstacles. These include floating stepping stones, a giant dodge ball and an 8-metre pit full of floating balls!

The money raised from Splash Out! will help Farleigh to continue providing our award-winning care, free of charge, to people affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement in Maldon and across mid Essex.

We are very grateful to the 1st Maldon Merlin Scouts group who have signed up already. 14 scouts will be taking part, along with their Leader Kate Hoddy and Assistant Leader Simon Gray. They are asking their family and friends to sponsor them to raise money for Farleigh and to help the scouts to each get their fundraising badge.

Kate said, “Farleigh Hospice is very close to my heart. 14 years ago they looked after my mum in her last days and everyone was amazing. It made such a difference to my family at such an incredibly hard time.

“Scouts is now a big part of my life and the scouts are brilliant, always wanting new challenges and experiences. So, what a fantastic idea to bring this all together at Splash Out! and have the scouts raise funds for Farleigh whilst having such a brilliant experience and being able to gain their fundraising badge.“

Farleigh Hospice wants to be there to help everyone with a life-limiting illness to live as actively as possible from their diagnosis to the end of their life and to also support their family and carers.
