At Farleigh Hospice, we understand that Christmas can be a difficult time of year, particularly if you have lost someone special.
Our Light Up A Life appeal is a way to celebrate the life and memory of those who are no longer with us. When you make a donation to our appeal, we can send you a commemorative card in memory of your loved one and add their name to our book of remembrance which is placed in Chelmsford Cathedral. You can also choose to leave a dedication to them on our virtual Light Up a Life memory page.
As part of our appeal, we are also holding Light up a Life remembrance services across mid Essex in December. Everyone is welcome and you are warmly invited to attend your local service. They include readings and performances and are centred around Christmas trees covered with stars that shine in memory of absent friends and family.
It costs over £21,000 every day to provide our services to those affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement within our local community. The money raised through our Light Up A Life appeal will help us to continue providing free care and support throughout Christmas and into 2024 for more people like Ian and Daryl and their daughter, Alice.
With our help, Daryl was able to remain at home, where she wanted to be, during the final few weeks of her life.
Ian explained, “It would have been impossible for us to have cared for Daryl without Farleigh Hospice. They held everything together and were always there when we needed them. They gave my wife dignity at the end of her life and she would not have been able to die at home without their amazing care and support. Every nurse and carer that I met was incredible and they provide first class care - it’s exemplary, priceless. I cannot praise Farleigh highly enough.”
