Fundraising manager Debbie de Boltz raises £2,082 for the hospice!
"As many of you know I work at Farleigh Hospice and this year has been such a roller-coaster! Whilst keeping my role in the fundraising team, I volunteered to help in any extra way I could and have spent 18 weeks working with the Hospice at Home team helping to provide end of life care in people's own homes. It has been such an experience and I have seen first-hand why our caring staff are called 'angels'. I have met and worked with some amazing people, I have laughed and cried and put myself well outside my comfort zone.
Even though I knew what services our Hospice at Home staff can provide as they were there for me and my late partner John - being on the other side delivering that care is a completely different ball game. It has made me even more committed to continue supporting Farleigh as I have seen just how much it means for people to have us supporting them at one of the most difficult times of their lives.
I am now back in my role as Fundraising Manager as we urgently need to try to raise vital funds - all our fundraising events have had to be cancelled, our shops have been closed, and our lovely community have not able to hold their normal events to support us.
So when the opportunity came to take part in the Virtual London Marathon I decided that even though I can't run 26.5 miles without training - I can walk it".
