We are pleased to announce the reopening of our specialist inpatient unit (IPU) on the 3 August 2021.
Our ten-bed IPU provides specialist palliative and end of life care to the mid Essex community. Over the last 8 months we have upgraded our facilities and can now offer the latest digital technology; providing a more personalised experience and enhanced working capabilities for our multidisciplinary teams.
Dr Eva Lew, Farleigh’s Medical Director says: “Everyone at Farleigh is very much looking forward to welcoming patients back to our IPU. Over the last 8 months we have carefully examined the needs of our patients and their families, and have made some enhancements to our facilities and services to make sure we provide the best possible care that is tailored to each individual. As part of this, we have also undertaken an extensive training and recruitment drive to enrich the skillsets we offer. We have recruited additional specialist nursing staff to ensure we have the best mix of skills possible across both our IPU and community teams.”
The Farleigh specialist IPU will continue to provide expert palliative and end of life care for our community alongside our Virtual Ward. This means we can now provide patients and families the choice to either come into IPU if they have complex needs that require admission, or to receive care in a home setting. Our Virtual Ward covers everything from personal care right the way through to specialist complex care, including an enhanced level of nursing support where needed.
