Cycle for Life and Garden Fete cancelled
We are all greatly saddened by the recent passing of our dear Queen Elizabeth II and our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal family as they move through this period of very public mourning whilst remembering their own very personal experiences of a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The Queen dedicated herself to a life of service to her country and was an incredible supporter of the hospice movement. Her last public appointment was to a hospice. We believe that the Queen died peacefully in a place where she wanted to be, surrounded by loving care, this is what we as a hospice aspire to every day for the people we serve.
As a mark of respect, we have taken the decision to cancel this weekend’s events at Farleigh Hospice: Our 40th birthday Garden Fete on Saturday, on 17th September and our much-loved Cycle for Life event on Sunday 18th September, to observe the period of national mourning.
We understand that this may cause disappointment to those who have made plans to attend either of our events this weekend, however we felt that this was the right decision to make at this sad time. We also appreciate that many of our staff, volunteers and supporters will be looking to travel into London to pay their respects this weekend and wanted to ensure that they had the opportunity to do so.
If you have pre-registered for our Cycle for Life event, you will be contacted directly by our fundraising team.
Your understanding and your support is so very much appreciated. Thank you.
