Christmas Tree Recycling scheme a huge success
The Farleigh Hospice 2023 Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme has once again been a huge success, raising an incredible £42,000!
More than one hundred enthusiastic volunteers drove vans, helped to load and unload trees across the towns and villages of mid Essex. Others coordinated collections and provided refreshments and endless cups of tea and biscuits.
2,200 trees were chipped and recycled. The chippings will be used as bio mass fuel and on pathways in cemeteries and parks, thus reducing landfill waste.
This is the 8th year of organising this recycling campaign – the first year started with 400 trees and this environmentally friendly event has continued to grow and grow.
Debbie de Boltz, Farleigh Hospice Head of Fundraising said, 'Thank you to everyone who registered their tree and made a generous donation. This enables Farleigh to help more local people to live well until the end of their lives.
We are very grateful to all of our wonderful volunteers from local companies, organisations, councils and individuals who so kindly help us every year to make the tree recycling so successful.”
